I am currently serving as the HR Manager for a growing company, where I oversee all HR functions. Over the next five years, my goal is to grow into a strategic leadership role and build a small, high-impact HR team to support our company’s continued success.

Year 1: Get Certified & Strengthen My HR Foundation

  • Earn a SHRM-CP certification to deepen my knowledge and credibility
  • Continue managing all core HR responsibilities, including recruiting, onboarding, employee relations, and compliance
  • Identify opportunities to improve HR processes and documentation
  • Begin researching graduate programs or business courses for long-term growth

Year 2: Add a Compliance Specialist

  • Hire a dedicated HR Compliance Specialist to manage policy updates, audits, and legal requirements
  • Reduce risk by ensuring full compliance with labor laws and company policies
  • Focus more of my time on strategic HR planning and leadership support

Year 3: Add a Culture & Benefits Specialist

  • Hire a Culture & Benefits Specialist to manage employee engagement, internal communications, wellness programs, and benefits administration
  • Improve the employee experience and help shape company culture
  • Begin mentoring and leading the growing HR team

Year 4: Step Into Director of HR Role

  • Lead a 3-person HR team
  • Focus on workforce planning, leadership development, and talent management
  • Collaborate closely with executive leadership on strategic initiatives
  • Support performance management and succession planning

Year 5: Become CHRO

Continue building HR systems and developing the HR team as needed

Transition into the Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO) role

Oversee HR strategy, company culture, and leadership development at the executive level

Align HR initiatives with business goals and company growth
